Welcome to Reddit,
Thank you for answering my question. Now i get it. My Dota lvl is Thats why i cannot unlock the ranked match. Your comment was very helpful to me. My account is new too. I wanted to know it too. It's not exactly , it could be or Originally posted by dpqriva:. DDD ; 24 Mar, 6: I think the number of matches played only contributes to your xp which adds up to Dota2 exp levels.
I guess Turbo and bot-coop matches give you less exp per minute played than normal games but they contribute imo. Anyway it is not good to calibrate for ranked as soon as possible.

If you are not a smurf try to level out your skill before you do your calibration matches. I had to play like games to unlocked rank. First time I calibrated I had better games and ended up 2k. Now I calibrated at Legend 4, 3. I only wish the relics were retroactive: DoTA is such a weird game, any other game that you're top 10 percentile you feel like your pretty good. Only thing that divides the players are that: DotA is such a complicated game and it attracts all of us tryhards. Immortal picked tusk cause obviously core position was taken by immortal-wanna-be archon guy.
And I can say he played pretty good. I was actually impressed that he was always there and was useful throughout the whole game. And this is why he's one of the top players in your region.
Take any Immortal player and put them on any position and any hero and they'll still play way better than everyone in Archon games. That's because the skill increase per badge isn't linear; the skill difference between a Divine 5 and a Legend 5 is much larger than the skill gap between a Legend 5 and a Crusader 5. In the other hours the only Legend player in a low skill game, so the entirety of the skill disparity can be seen.
A Divine player in an average Legend game will destroy that game much harder than you destroy Crusader games. Statistically that's not actually true, the way mmr works means a team average mmr that is above the average for the other team eg. The thing is that because skill disparity doesn't perfectly correlate with the stats of rankings, what you end up finding is that the players who grind like hell to reach the top ranks have to play way more than others, and thus become significantly better than the players behind them.
Played mid as MK as a legend 3 vs a lvl 25 visage spammer in the top NA, died once, killed him once, died again, got totally rolled after that. Probably could have done better but we gave up fairly quickly as their lion was also in the top or smth; team morale was in the dumpster and our rubick took the abandon. Main difference I have noticed is that high level players will notice any mistake you make and punish you for it, did you stick around the wave a little too long?
That being said I did manage to beat a 2 divine 5s when I was playing my comfort hero timber so I don't rlly know what to think; dota's a team game, as long as you don't feed out of control they're not going to stomp you totally unless they pick heroes 1v5 heroes like brood, meepo or visage. I'm pretty sure a Legend 5 would smash a Crusader 5 just as bad as a Divine 5 would a Legend 5.
I think it's just that fewer and fewer people have the physical ability to get past Legend 5, and those that do have to do crazy shit, rather than just suck a little less. Crusader 5 is people who just hit things, Legend 5 people play their own game, and Divine 5 is DotA. Slacks has proven you don't need to be mechanic skill to get divine. Guy has 2 active hotkeys for items. The main thing is, I understand how to win and I am always thinking of what needs to be done to win. Most people, sometimes even at divine, don't.
They just hit creeps or throw wards according to what they see pros do without understanding why and when. You need to grind your way even if you are good to get those ranks and you must be consistent. Its too much time for adult me, and now there immortal ranks that I need to grind endlessly for. Yeah I'm home and in a good enough state for ranked play maybe an hour or two a day and it's really difficult to improve in that time span.
The thing is our 'potato' speed and our shitty positioning etc, its scary how much better that is than someone even like mmr less in mid ancient. I've got friends there, and the difference is staggering at times, when youd expect it to be quite small. Being good at Dota requires a huge variety of skillsets. You don't need Bruce Lee reactions to be Divine. Well they usually make so many wrong decisions though.
They dont know how to capitalize their advantage and close the game. For me the biggest difference is time investment and the ability to accept your mistakes and recognize them, but theres still plenty of exceptions to that. Divine 5 is DotA? The trench never ends my friend. I say this, because at the high Divine levels, people start to understand what needs to be done in a game.
You don't need to tell your teammates to push the other lanes or fight as 5 when the entire enemy team is mid, they just know to do it. You don't have to tell your carry to take farm on the opposite side, they just do it. Your supports actually know where to ward because in 3 minutes Ursa will be smoking into Rosh. In Legend 5, this doesn't happen. He's saying a legend 5 would stomp a crusader 5 in a similarly convincing fashion that a divine 5 would stomp a legend 5.
I would agree with this. The higher the skill level the more subtle the difference gets.

Of course the divine player would have a massive winrate over a legend, but the wins might be less dramatic. A crusader basically has no idea how anything works in the game If my understanding is correct though there's no upper limit on divine 5, you could be 9k and still be divine 5 provided there where enough 10k players to keep you off the leaderboards. It's true that's nonlinear but it's false that's it's "much larger" You can use any Elo calculator to see that.
DOTA is just a really complex game, which is why you don't feel like you are as good as you think you are. I'm sure that if suddenly forgot everything you knew about DOTA, basically that you've never played the game before, it would take a lot longer than you'd think it would be to re-learn the game. Also keep in mind that matchmaking makes sure that you are playing with people near your skill level, something that doesn't really exist in traditional sports.
People are being more reasonable, willing co communicate in English even though I play in SEA , let cores pick later, etc. Still, the more I play Dota, the more I realize I still have a lot to learn. That's how it feels in any game with matchmaking. You're always against people who are about as good as you, so you always feel mediocre. Carry more tps and use them often before 8m. Every time in base buy up to two tps. So you never end up with none.
Another aspect to add is also note that even many pro players in things like Basketball don't act or think much on they are top. Because of the nature of matchmaking you are constantly going to be playing with people who are meant to be roughly your skill level and games set up to be as close as possible one way or another. Pick good laners with push abilities.

Try do not go late. Lycan, Beastmaster, Brood, Jakiro, Lech are good. Q stops you in tracks, R kills the whole team, and the biggest bullshit is W affecting buildings. Pick undying and shit on spectre in lane, or buy silvers edge. You can see OG games whenever they picked spec they banned undying. I usually pick viper to counter spectre if possible. I introduced DotA do my friend almost a year ago, he became archon 4 a few days ago.
This was the median skill level five years ago too. Dota comunity is weird, litteraly everyone you ask would say that up to divine, people are trash, and yet thats asking for thousands of hours, just to not be trash, like when i see 4. I wouldn't say most people are trash up to Divine. A lot of Ancient players specifically usually have pretty good mechanics but just lack in decisions making, item builds, hero choices, etc. Most people are able to climb to Legend or Ancient based purely off mechanics because mechanics is the most important aspect in Dota until you reach High Ancient or Low Divine but then they hit a wall of knowledge and understanding that they struggle to get over.
You could say they reached the point of Conscious competence. Please, take the mmr cutoffs with a grain of salt, its only meant as a way to display the idea. The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit. They may deny the usefulness of the skill. The individual must recognize their own incompetence, and the value of the new skill, before moving on to the next stage. The length of time an individual spends in this stage depends on the strength of the stimulus to learn.
These players usually don't understand much about the game. The game goes either way and they are not really sure why, often, they will look for external factors. Though the individual does not understand or know how to do something, they recognize the deficit, as well as the value of a new skill in addressing the deficit. The making of mistakes can be integral to the learning process at this stage. Players start to realize and understand what's going on.

They will realize the value of creeps, towers, vision The individual understands or knows how to do something. However, demonstrating the skill or knowledge requires concentration. It may be broken down into steps, and there is heavy conscious involvement in executing the new skill. These players can play well when they focus, but they are inconsistent and can be thrown off easily.
In this area, there's also a lot of delusion I can play like X pro too but not every game.
The individual has had so much practice with a skill that it has become "second nature" and can be performed easily. As a result, the skill can be performed while executing another task.

The individual may be able to teach it to others, depending upon how and when it was learned. Here, the basic mechanics are more or less down. Consistent performances and focus shifts from tactics to strategy and understanding in a broader sense. That is why you will say that players before divine are bad; similar to why bots are bad. They can last hit well and perfectly chain stun etc. Even though OpenAI beat pros individually, they will lose the game in a broader sense for now.
